Khayam Amin AMEER

Dewsbury

When you started volunteering?

Alhamdulillah, I have been volunteering since 2013 and have been the Ameer since 2018.

Favourite course and why?

My favourite course is the Fiqh of Salah. I still remember when I first did it, and I found it mind blowing, having come from the traditional Hanafi background.

One perk of volunteering?

Alhamdulillah I really enjoy volunteering. I love being a student first and foremost, and that is actually also my main reason for volunteering as well. I personally used Al Maghrib as a great opportunity to turn my life around based on knowledge Alhamdulillah, and I am desperate for others to get the exact same opportunity.

When you started volunteering?

2008.

Favourite course and why?

Seerah of the prophet pbuh by Sheikh Mohammad Alshareef because it was where my journey of seeking Islamic knowledge began.

One perk of volunteering?

I love meeting and being inspired by all the volunteers and students I meet as a result of volunteering.

When you started volunteering?

I'm from Bradford and have been volunteering since 2016.

Favourite course and why?

My favourite course was 'Fitnah' (Sh. Abu Eesa), as Surah Ale Imran has a huge focus on faith and sincerity in the face of trial, as well as many other topics. This course transformed my entire relationship with the Quran and subsequently my life alhamdullilah!

One perk of volunteering?

Volunteering allows me to do the things I love - meet new inspiring people, develop my creative and leadership skills and organise events - all for the sake of Allah swt!

When you started volunteering?

I started volunteering after the third or fourth course in Brad-ford. It was a while ago :)

Favourite course and why?

My favourite course was The Valley of Seekers by Sheikh Riad Ouarzazi – a course on how to live with the names of Allah. It brought new life to my duas!

One perk of volunteering?

Perhaps one of the students will turn out to be the next imam, mufti, khateeb, or scholar. Imagine the number of people they would benefit, and the hasanat they would earn. Now imagine getting all of them for free. That’s what you get for helping to facilitate these events :)

When you started volunteering?

I began my volunteer journey after my first seminar. I loved the whole set up and wanted to help.

Favourite course and why?

My favourite course was “Beautiful Patience”. It was my first course and I loved how one Surah was broken down Ayah by Ayah and explained in so much detail. Each course is beautiful in its own way, but my first experience was an eye opener.

One perk of volunteering?

I like to volunteer because it allows me to assist others in their journey of gaining knowledge.

Touched by an Angel - Tafseer Juz Amma. Nothing beats tafseer, especially for the surahs we recite day in, day out. It was a truly amazing course by Sheikh Muhammad AlShareef. The meanings as well as the understanding of when and why these early surah were revealed was quite emotional.

One perk of volunteering?

I love learning about my religion. I love getting together with other volunteers who have now become my closest friends and are like brothers. I love spending time with the Shayookh and with the other volunteers where we really get to know the person behind the teacher.

I started volunteering initially in 2011 for 2-3 years after which I took a gap and returned in 2019 Alhamdulillah.

Favourite course and why?

My all-time favourite course is “Eternal Journey” by Dr Reda Bedeir. The reason why I enjoyed this the most was because it was my first course and a long time since I'd been to an Islamic event with such intensity and it gave such an iman boost especially the teaching style was amazing from Dr. Reda. It's a course I can never forget.

When you started volunteering?

I started volunteering with my brother's after Ilmfest 2012.

Favourite course and why?

“On the Shoulders of Giants” taught by Sh Reda Bedouir. This was the first Almaghrib course I attended, and I was in awe of how accessible the knowledge was.

One perk of volunteering?

The main reason I volunteer is firstly for the sake of Allah, to gain His Pleasure and secondly to benefit the community. Without volunteers, we can't hold courses for people to come, learn and grow.
